Secret Fantasies

I’ve been thinking about this post for a couple of days. I’m not quite sure why I want to write it; it is, after all, about those things that we keep hidden and safe from prying eyes as they could make us vulnerable to others. My closest guess is that some part of me wanted to explore the ideas that we privately come up with. That doesn’t mean to say I’m going to undress all of my fantasies and parade them in front of you.

Nevertheless, as a writer, I get to play out some of them through the use of my characters and I’m not always totally sure where they come from. I suppose a few, such as being rescued, are things I absorbed from movies when I was much younger. My favourite movies, for example, were Disney’s Robin Hood and Sleeping Beauty. Both have themes of rescue in them, yet Sleeping Beauty interested me more as she has to be awoken by a kiss. Maybe it’s the romantic in me, but I have always liked the idea of being woken by a kiss.

Good Vibrations

Those of you who are regulars to this here blog (goodness knows how you’ve had the patience to keep reading my drivel!) will probably have noticed the dramatic change in the layout and theme. as much as I loved the old theme, I needed a change and hopefully you all like it as much as I do.

Any of you who follow me on twitter or know me on facebook may have noticed that I disappeared over the past few days. I urge you not to worry. The first day was due to an attack of a migraine, the second I was busy all day and then stayed with R for the night. The second day involved buying R’s birthday present. I would tell you all what it is, but he doesn’t know yet and that would be entirely unfair. Not to mention that he might sneak on here and find out. So my lips are sealed.

Flash Fiction No. 15

He looked down at his hands. It looked like black tar in the darkness, sticking to his fingers and clinging to his face. The floor was covered in it and so was he. He started to shake. Wide, anxious eyes darted about the piercing silence.

It was sprayed about like paint, but this was no artist’s workroom.

He stood up, staggering back with jelly feet that slid on the wet floor. The mirror flashed at him in the dark. A crisp beam of moonlight had sluiced the air and hit it, illuminating his fearful reflection. Wide eyes absorbed the haggard image.

His jaw was flecked with stubble like he hadn’t shaved in days. His pale skin shone eerily in the icy light, except for the swathes of wet crimson. Blood clung to his brittle whiskers as red as rust. He reached out, red fingertips brushing the cold surface.

This was too much.

Taking Charge

Normal people seem to have lazy days where they can hang around in their pyjamas all day and feel perfectly comfortable. Why can I not do that? As soon as I’ve had something to eat with a hot beverage I must be dressed. As I type, I’m sitting in my pyjamas and my dressing gown, but I may pause just t get dressed.

My problem with sitting in my bedclothes is that I start to feel just a little bit like a tramp. It’s like I’m sitting in muck or something and the more I do so the more I will ferment. I can’t stand that feeling. My face begins to feel all greasy and grimy the longer that I sit here until, eventually, I decide to get dressed just so that I can feel more human and fresher.

That’s right. I like them.

Today is Unusual Way To Start A Blog Post Day.

No it’s not really, but it would be good if it was; wouldn’t it? I expect people would have very random beginnings to their blogs and thus many readers would be confused and intrigued. Maybe we should start a random blog post day. What do you think?

No? Well, it was worth a shot.

I have been updating here recently; however, I realise that I haven’t updated on my life properly and I just know how much you love hearing about that (…not).

Flash Fiction No. 14

#Flashfiction statement provided by Louise Murray via Facebook.

Friendships - when one pushes the self destruct button and the effect on the other person.

Invincible Girl took off her cape. She folded it neatly into its box and then stood preening in front of the mirror. Her eyes passed over the small shadow in the background of her reflection but she took no notice; her hair was out of place and it needed to be readjusted. She leaned closer to the glass, reapplying lip gloss to her super pout.

Good Morning!

It’s a very strange thing indeed being a lollipop lady. Everybody always says hello to you when you’re wandering around in your uniform with your big lollipop stick. You get a lot of ‘good mornings’ from people who aren’t even crossing the road with you. It’s really lovely to see (as Shakespeare would say) the milk of human kindness.

#WW & National Poetry Day

Yesterday was #WW day on twitter and today is National Poetry Day in the UK, so I figured that I’d post once and kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. I wouldn’t really go out and kill two birds with one stone. My aim isn’t that good.

If you read my previous post on Follow Friday, then you probably have at least a guess of what the #WW tag may be referring to. #WW stands for Writer Wednesday. It’s something that the writing community on twitter like to use to help writers connect with writers.

Flash Fiction No. 13

#Flashfiction statement provided by Tatiana Eileen Shryock on my Facebook Fan Page.

From the instant she was born, everyone knew there was something unnatural about her…

He watched her from across the still waters.

Her pale grey dress dipped in the edges of the surf. Golden hair rolled loosely around her bare shoulders, gracing her silvery skin. Big eyes stared back at him. Even from that distance they were disconcerting.

The urge to turn back was almost overpowering. It was as if she was willing him with her queer eyes to return to the other shore.

The Twitter #FF Monster

Firstly, a list of twitter writers/people you should follow on twitter. These are in no particular order:

These are just a few of many talented people on twitter that I follow. If you’re new to twitter, then you might not understand the hashtag of #ff in the title of this post. #ff means Follow Friday. Follow Friday happens on every Friday and it gives you a chance to recommend some of the people you follow to other people that follow you.
